OWLware Ltd. is proud to announce a new employee partnership with Toronto-based multi-arts company, DramaWay.
DramaWay is a staple of the disability community within the GTA providing year-round creative arts programming to individuals of all abilities. Recently, Founder and Executive Director of DramaWay, Danielle Strnad dedicated their time and energy to building a strong bond with OWLware Ltd. in order to recruit a graduate of The Introduction to Accessible Content and Media program. This innovative skills upgrade course is funded by Skills Advance Ontario and the Ministry of Training Labour and Skills Development.
Participants will attend 14-weeks of training with Mohawk College Enterprise as well as be taught by digital media professionals who currently work in the industry. This hybrid learning and experiential work model allows students to learn while they build an accessible media portfolio. Students gain knowledge in closed captioning, podcasting, video production and editing, social media writing and design, and web accessibility and introduction to accessible documentation. Students will also receive career planning, mentoring and soft skills workshops to assist in resume writing, interview prep and professional planning.
At the commencement of the programming inclusive of the learning modules, soft skills training and mentor support OWLware Ltd. searches for organizations that will partner in order to hire graduates. DramaWay has led the employment process for our graduates as one of our top partners having employed multiple graduates to date.
The Introduction to Accessible Content Production and Media Program also includes eligible participants the use of CCRW wage subsidy. This allows for an employer to effectively train and onboard a new graduate to ensure best practices and success.
We would like to thank DramaWay for being an AbilityChampion and contributing to the ever-changing industry of accessible media. Organizations like DramaWay change the lives and outcomes of those living with disabilities.
